Welcome and thank you for visiting AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc, the world's largest one stop shop to purchase products made / manufactured / assembled in the United States of America. We differ in many ways from all other "American Made" product sites. We want to take this time to explain why AmericanMadeProducts.com is going to make a difference in the way American consumers do business and where we are going in the future.
Mission Statement For AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc.
AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc. is an internet store providing the consumer a "one-stop" site to purchase American made products. This user friendly site includes a broad range of American made items to choose from. Knowledgeable sales representatives are available to provide our customers with any help and information needed. We are committed to providing high quality American made products at affordable prices. Our goal is to work together with customers and companies to create lasting relationships and watch America grow.
Business Plan
We at AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc. have great pride in knowing the American worker is the most productive worker in the world. Americans produce many of the high quality products found in the world today. However, in too many cases these products are never seen on the shelves of the "big box stores" or even your "mom and pop shops." We as consumers have listened and heard people complain about "nothing is made in America anymore" and/or "do you carry any American Made Products," and odds are you probably said it yourself. Well, guess what? This is all going to change.
The Beginning
From our headquarters in Bridgeport, Michigan, AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc. launched it's online store on February 9th, 2009, where you can purchase anything made, manufactured, or assembled in America. From toys and clothing to furnaces, you can purchase the products you use everyday and support the American economy. We have searched the country for American made products and through partnerships with these American manufacturers we have made them available all in one place for consumers to save time and money.
At AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc., we differ from other web stores due to the sheer volume and broad range of products we have available. We offer professional, courteous service by providing a web site through which you can navigate with ease and security. Our toll free number (866-966-2129) will be answered by a live AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc. representative who will assist you with your shopping needs. Our representatives can take your order over the phone and/or can assist you in navigating the website step by step. If you sign up for our mailing list you will receive in the future a color catalog which will display many of our products. The catalog cover highlights an American manufacturer whose products are available on our site. We celebrate their achievements by showcasing the profile of the company along with a picture of their most valuable assets, the American Worker.
Building Confidence in Products
AmericanMadeProducts.com is not just selling 100% Made in the USA products, but rather we know and understand the current global economy and world trade practices. We understand foreign countries wanting to have their products assembled and/or partially manufactured by the American worker. So staying within the guidelines of the United States Federal Trade Commission, we are indicating the percentage of the product which is made / manufactured / assembled in America. Each product will have an identifying ribbon and percentage. All products available in our online store and catalog will have at least the minimum of
51% made / manufactured / assembled in America yellow ribbon rating. If the product is at least
75 % made / manufactured / assembled in America, a red ribbon will be posted. Finally, if the product is
100% made / manufactured / assembled in America, a blue ribbon will be issued.
By creating the ribbon percentage concept, we are giving the consumer a wider choice of American made products to choose from. Our ultimate goal by implementing the ribbon concept is to encourage companies to produce more products made in the United States. We feel customers will choose the higher percentage products over the lower ones, and thus encourage manufactures to create more of the product at home instead of abroad.
Future Growth and Development
In the future our goal is to certify all the products that are sold on our site or in our catalog. By obtaining a certified rating, it will signify the manufactures operation has been physically inspected by our AmericanMadeProducts.com personnel and meet the guidelines of the *Good Faith Agreement. (*An agreement between AmericanMadeProducts.com and the manufacture to insure that their products on our site are truly made, manufactured, or assembled in the United States of America.)
We at AmericanMadeProducts.com, Inc. hope you’ll find this store refreshing. We encourage you to tell friends and family to visit this site, and to support it by purchasing some of the best and safest products in the world.
How This Whole Thing Got Started
My name is John Jankowski of Frankenmuth, Michigan. I am a proud father of two. I am an American man through and through and I believe in this country. I think it’s important for us to share with you, the story behind why we started American Made Products.com, Inc.
It all started in the summer of 2007, at a family camping trip in Lakeport, Michigan (north of Port Huron). Our families went to the beach, while my brother and I stayed back to keep an eye on my 11 month old daughter, who was napping. Relaxing in some chairs under the awning, my brother and I decided to open a package of squirt guns we’d bought from a dollar store. After only five minutes one of the guns was broken. I threw it away and grabbed another squirt gun out of the package. Same results: after a few minutes it was no good.
My brother Ted and I started to reminisce. We thought about the squirt guns and other toys we used to play with in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. As we recalled, they were made in the U.S.A. and cost the same…about a dollar. The difference? They lasted through an entire summer of pool water, pond water and tap water. After reflecting on this, I started getting upset. What has happened to us, as Americans, that we will simply accept poor quality craftsmanship? What does it say about us that we’re willing to throw something away after just a few uses, because it only costs a dollar?
America has become a “throw away” society. We purchase the same items over and over again, just to throw them away when they break, because they are inexpensive. I started to think about what a waste this is: wasted gas to find the product, wasted money in buying the product… not to mention a waste of valuable time. For a couple of extra pennies, or a few extra dollars, you could save time, and ultimately money, buying quality American made products and supporting the American economy. Consider also the environmental benefits: less trash, and more well-made goods to hand down to the next generation!
My brother Ted asked me, “Where can you find an American made squirt gun anymore?” I honestly couldn’t think of a single store that might carry one. Then Ted said. “There isn’t anything made in America anymore..” That sad commentary stayed with me. Could it be true? I needed to find out.
When I returned home from camping I started to research the comment my brother made about “nothing is made in America anymore.” I searched the internet and was amazed and delighted by all the products which are still made in America. I thought of ways to get these products to the consumer with ease and to keep the cost down. I came up with the idea of an internet store for American made products. I viewed a few sites which sell “Made in America” products, but was disappointed in the lack of volume and variety of merchandise they had to offer. Our site needed a simple name and a vast and diverse product line.
I searched the web for a simple domain name for the business. I typed AmericanMadeProducts.com and to my surprise the domain was for sale. I quickly contacted the seller and purchased the domain name. My next step was to look for a partner whom I trusted and who could help accelerate the implementation of an on-line store. I thought of only one guy.
I contacted a friend that I have known since 1998. His name is Darrell Thayer. I proposed the idea of an American made products internet store to him. (Darrell is current President of a successful service oriented tool supply business started in 1974. The business offers traditional as well as internet catalogs.) Darrell was intrigued by the idea and noted many of his current customers were requesting American made tooling. With the continuous recalls on toys, pet food, toothpaste, and food we felt this would be the perfect time to launch such a business. Darrell met with his tooling team and pitched the idea to them and asked them if they wanted to be a part of it. Darrell contacted me several days later and said “let’s do it”.
